Research is often a collaborative process between various people, groups, and organizations.
We at Onchain think Web3 research should embody a collaborative ethos as well.
In keeping with that, we’re building the first Web3 Insights Marketplace. It will allow you to join the research conversation, not just listen in. Read on to learn about how it works, how it started, how it will evolve, and how you can get involved.
What is the Onchain Web3 Insights Marketplace?
The Onchain Web3 Insights Marketplace is an interactive Web3 research platform for those needing timely, astute, and on-target insights. You could think of it as an onchain-focused social feed that combines insightful posts, accurate articles, and in-depth research reports.
While anyone can participate, a community upvoting and moderation system will ensure that the research marketplace prioritizes quality — not quantity. This will incentivize the creation and posting of content that is valuable to both research producers and consumers.
When did the marketplace launch? How will it develop?
The Onchain Insights Web3 Marketplace went live on December 9th, 2024. The date marks the beginning of a new era for Onchain. Consider this version 1.0, with scheduled upgrades and increased functionality planned over the coming months.
Feedback from early adopters will help us further develop features and optimize functionalities. This platform aims to cater specifically to the entrepreneurial needs of startups and ambitious business-minded innovators. The final version should be completed by Q4 of 2025.
What kind of topics can I find on this site?
Onchain’s inspiration-driven purpose is to show how entrepreneurs and businesses can build, provide, or incorporate real-world use cases for blockchain. This marketplace will feature both short- and long-form content that shows why specific blockchain tools and services provide advantage-laded value over legacy alternatives.
Topics and categories of specific emphasis include:
- AI
- Art
- Finance
- Business
- Healthcare
- Real-world assets (RWAs)
- Decentralized science (DeSci)
- Decentralized social media (DeSoc)
- Blockchain infrastructure & technology
- Decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN)
Of course, you can also share short inspirational, thought provoking, or philosophical posts. Or simply just post for fun (as long as it’s Web3 research related 😜).
Who are the people posting on this site?
The marketplace is designed for people interested in Web3 innovation and use cases to gather. We encourage anyone with blockchain insights or research-derived content to contribute. To start, you find Onchain team members like crypto OG Max Kordek, Head of Research Leon Waidmann, yours truly, and more.
You will also find content from various crypto projects, Web3 thought leaders, and both amateur and professional Web3 researchers. This marketplace is ideal for those looking to build their personal reputation and increase the visibility of their work.
Who are the people viewing this marketplace?
Researchers and influential thinkers post the content. The consumers can be anyone inside or outside the core blockchain community. While providing value to crypto natives, this platform also welcoms inquisitive people that want to come onchain. It’s here to make the Web3 leap easier.
When conceptualizing the marketplace, Onchain had two focus groups in mind:
- Web3 entrepreneurs, founders, and creators: The Web3 world moves at a breakneck pace without taking holidays and weekends off. Onchain’s research hub is designed to bring the latest and greatest Web3 developments to the forefront and then provide the insight and analysis to actually implement them. This content is practical and designed to be actionable now (not in 2035).
- Non-Web3-focused companies that want to get onchain: Maybe you’re a science company interested in DeSci, a social media startup thinking about pivoting to DeSoc, or an AI company that wants to leverage blockchain. The vast ecosystem of onchain solutions isn’t just for crypto companies. It’s for any entity that is interested in the advantages of incorporating Web3 solutions. The marketplace will roll out key features over the course of 2025 to better serve this curious demographic.
Can I be both consumer and contributor?
Yes. In actuality, we expect a significant overlap between the producers and consumers of this content. I, for one, have been contributing research while also benefitting greatly from the posts from independent researchers and my Onchain colleagues.
What are my options to interact and engage with content?
Early adopters can participate in this new type of research ecosystem that is designed to be interactive, not passive. There are several ways to do that. Start by curating the available content. During the initial launch, this happens via upvoting content that you find valuable. A commenting functionality is in the works.
Next, create your own content to share with this burgeoning Web3 community. The initial release allows you to create sub-600 character posts with images, links, and hashtags.
Just want to learn? That’s no problem; you can simply consume the research content.
Initially, the articles and research reports are limited to in-house Onchain content. Later upgrades will allow independent researchers to contribute articles and research reports.
How can I find specific topics?
The user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) were top of mind when we envisioned this marketplace. The ability to locate the most relevant research was particularly important. At the top of the feed, you find a standard search bar.
Next to it, there’s a comprehensive filtering system that lets you filter by category, hashtag, content type, and more:
As the platform gains popularity, these navigation tools will allow you to find what you’re looking for, when they’re looking for it.
How do I earn points and what can I do with them?
The Onchain Web3 Insights Marketplace comes with a scoring system. Start posting, get upvoted, build your reputation and collect points. “Reputation points” will eventually be redeemable for onchain tokens. These tokens will provide content creators and curators with other perks (hint: possible discounted and/or free access to Onchain products and memberships).
The earlier you start the better your chance to get a high score.
How do I join the Onchain Web3 Insights Marketplace?
Anyone can visit the marketplace feed and read posts and articles. However, to participate in the full version of the Web3 Insights Marketplace, you need to be a member. Only the Onchain membership will allow you to curate and contribute long-form research content and earn reputation points in the process.
There are currently two membership options: You can purchase a Business Membership that can be continually renewed. It grants your entire team full access to the marketplace and more.
To gain lifetime membership, purchase a Founding Membership NFT. These utility NFTs provide exclusive top benefits and perks, but are limited to only 2,500. And of course, you can later sell these fully functional NFTs to eager buyers. But why would you want to do that? 😃
